Image Prep Checklist: Compress, Resize, Convert, Export
Prepare images for upload, email, websites, and forms with local tools.
Choose the smallest useful format
Use JPG for photos, PNG for screenshots and transparent graphics, and WebP when the destination supports it. Convert first, then compress if the file is still too large.
Resize before compressing
If a website only displays an image at 1200px wide, uploading a 5000px source wastes bandwidth. Resize to the target dimensions before tuning quality.
Generate assets in one pass
For site icons, upload a clean square source image to Favicon Generator and download the full package instead of creating each icon size manually.
